It is time for the United States, just as it has made an exception to the US embargo on Cuba with the sale of cars, buses and tractors to private Cuban businessmen, to make an exception to the supplies of energy, medical supplies and pharmaceuticals for hospitals in Cuba to which the entire population of Cuba has totally free access, without exceptions, by health law on the island.
It is known that for a long time more than 400 Cuban surgeons have been trained in the DA VINCI surgical operations robot, but due to the US embargo it has been impossible to provide Cuban hospitals with this tool, this is just to quote an example.
The measure of selling automobiles to private Cuban companies is wise and we applaud it, but Washington's gesture is useless if the most precious asset of the island's population, the right of all to health, deteriorates due to a US embargo. of more than 60 years.
The serious shortage of fuel that affects the entire island of Cuba at this time and causes blackouts is largely due to the US embargo that weighs on the island both in international banking transactions and in the penalization of tankers and technological supplies for energy that arrive at Cuban ports, this problem is seriously affecting the large network of hospitals spread throughout the entire island. It is ethical, that in the supply of energy that exceptions be made for hospital centers.
WASHINGTON has been accused of showing “contempt for life and hatred of the Cuban people” after it bought up companies making ventilators and immediately banned them from exporting the machines to Cuba and Venezuela.
Cuba said it had tried to obtain medical supplies from 60 US companies for the treatment of coronavirus patients but had been ignored by all but two, with the US blockade restricting even emergency material.
US blocks sale of ventilators to Cuba after acquiring …
